‘Growth and inclusion at Newbury Road Club’

We’re proud to announce Cycling UK’s recognition of our Chair, Lorraine Murrell’s enormous contribution to Women’s Cycling, to our Club and to Cycling itself.  This honour has come at the end of our amazing centenary year and follows Lorraine’s unanimous re-election to serve as Club Chair for another year.

As the first female Chair of Newbury Road Club in its 100-year history, she's helped to lead the transformation of the Club, especially through her great drive for inclusivity. Under her leadership female membership has risen to 30% and we’ve had two major ‘firsts’ this year:  the Newbury Cycling Festival in June and Berkshire’s only “Glow Ride”, held in October under Cycling UK’s initiative, called ‘My Ride, Our Right’, to promote safer night-time cycling for women.
