This has probably been the busiest and most exciting year in our Club’s proud history, and we’re about to enter our second century of cycling in Newbury.
We’ve celebrated our Centenary in style with specially-designed club kit, the Big Summer Bash, overseas tours, especially in Riccione and Eeklo, Centenary-themed rides and much more. We’ve attracted many new members along the way to join our extensive programme of club rides, special events and time trials.
We’ve built on our core value of inclusivity through co-operation with Newbury Velo and West Berkshire Spokes, particularly in the inaugural Newbury Cycle Festival. We’ve also promoted safer cycling for women by bringing a Glow Ride to Newbury as part of Cycling UK’s ‘My Ride, Our Right’ national campaign.
We were proud to support Gary Shaughnessy and the Parkinson’s community in an event which reflected the generous, community-minded spirit of our club.
On behalf of our members and friends, I thank all of you who have made these achievements possible.
We’ve had some sadness too, of course, but I’m proud of the support and love our members have shared with our bereaved friends and each other.
As we head into 2026, we look forward to attracting even more new members to join us as we start to write the next chapter.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
