Strong headwind no deterrent for Novice TT riders

A windy but dry afternoon welcomed the riders to Newbury Road Club's second TT of the season on the H10/3A course on the B4000 to the west of Newbury.

Everyone who rode last week seemed to have improved their times and two new novice riders also did very well, with Andy Lewis, Army Cycling, achieving 26:47 in his first ever TT and John Kavanagh, CATI, making it in 31:51. Well done to both!

The fastest on the course today were Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott, Newbury Velo, opening their season on their tandem in 21:27. The fastest solo male was Matt Fisherof Huub Wattshop, in 22:06, second overall again but 11s quicker than last week. Rachel Green of Cheltenham and County CC, made a good start to her season as fastest woman in 31:02.

Full results can be found (for this week and previous races) here

Thanks go to the increased support team of Bob Lyle (as ever) for timekeeping, Ian Chitty for organisation, Peter Fuell for signs, Rachael Elliott for excellent flapjacks, John and Lorraine Murrell for photo's, Alan Alewood for admin and timekeeping. We missed our regular photographer Gareth Davies this week, our condolences to him on his family loss.

If you could not make this Novice TT, we have another beginners’ event on the evening of Wednesday 19 April at 18.30.
