There were some very impressive performances by NRC riders in the Centenary Edition of the Dave Jones Memorial time trial on 11th May.   This annual event, hosted by NRC, is held in memory of Dave who was a member of the Club for over 75 years and attracts riders from local clubs and further afield.  Dave’s family were at the event to present the prizes.

Tristan Davenne and Sam Krauze both went under the hour for the 25 mile course and, together with Peter Fuell, won the team competition.  Peter’s ride was a 25 mile personal best for him.  Richard Byrne was also representing NRC and came in 5th place in the road bike competition.

We were again lucky with the weather.  Glorious sunshine greeted the riders at Englefield Village Hall. The first rider set off at 7.30am, heading west along the A4 from Theale.

NRC member, George Westall, who races for the Royal Air Force Cycling Association, was second overall in the event, which was won by Peter Allan from Team Velo Sportif.  The fastest female rider was former NRC member Claire Emons who now races for …a3crg.

It was great to see a few NRC members on the Blue club run come along to join in the fun at the village hall for the refreshments and presentations afterwards.

Many thanks to Jerry Rolfe, who helped organise the event, Bob Lyle for timekeeping, Gareth Davies and Martin Sutherland for photography and the multitude of enthusiastic marshals and helpers.  With your help, we really put on a great event!
