It was hot. Scorching hot. Yet over 50 riders enjoyed the Newbury Road Club Taste of Freedom Rides this Sunday, the 18 July.
It was great to see a bumper turnout from regular members along with many trying our group rides for the first time. Newbury Market Place was awash with Navy and Gold.
Novices and shorter ‘Green’ rides headed north and south with stops at Hampstead Norreys and The Yew Tree Garden Centre.
A longer ‘Blue’ ride visited the Cart Shed in Benson.
And even longer ‘Red’ and ‘Black’ rides headed south to sample the cafes of Stockbridge.
Our ‘Senior Section’ (with about 250 years of cycling experience between them!) took to the roads – destination: Ramsbury.
The feedback was great - ‘well organised’, ‘routes for everyone’ and above all ‘friendly’.
“The Club is always pleased to welcome new riders to our Group rides – even if they just want to try a few rides to see if it’s for them, ” commented Club Chairman Steve Dawes.
“Our Club now runs more rides, at more distances, speeds and times than ever, so now might be a good time to give us a try. Apart from the motivation to stretch yourself, you’ll explore new routes and of course there’s the chance to swap stories with fellow riders.”
Our many weekend, midweek, evening, women’s and training rides are carefully graded and planned by experienced cyclists. The rides are scheduled, managed and invited to via our Club App: Spond. So, if you fancy giving one a try, let us know here and we will send you an invite to access the App.
Happy Cycling and we hope to see you on a ride soon!
