Women's 100 mile ride

Through the North Wessex Downs to Honeystreet July 13 2026

What a day!

Seven riders, 100 miles, around 4,500ft of climbing, plenty of laughter and two very welcome café stops. We couldn't have asked for much more.

Riders were Wendy Birchenough, Alison Brashier, Lucy Burton, Ali Gatenby, Ellie Gobey, Linda Green and Claire Hardwick.

Setting off together, we headed through some of the most beautiful countryside our area has to offer, riding through Lambourn, Uffington, Shrivenham, the North Wessex Downs, Marlborough, Honey Street and Great Bedwyn. Great weather and, of course, headwind, quiet roads and stunning views made every mile worthwhile.

Our café stops at Shrivenham and Honey Street were perfectly timed, giving us the chance to refuel, chat and enjoy a well-earned coffee and cake before getting back on the road.

Like any long ride, there were moments when the miles seemed to stretch on, but riding together made all the difference. There was plenty of encouragement, good conversation and, of course, a few laughs along the way. That's what makes these rides so special.

Reaching the 100-mile mark was a fantastic feeling, not because it was about chasing numbers, but because it was another reminder of what can be achieved when you ride together, support each other and simply keep turning the pedals.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. We all finished with tired legs, big smiles and one shared thought… We'll definitely be planning more long rides together!
