Brains, Banter and a Bit of Blagging – NRC Quiz Night Delivers

Saint Patrick’s Day brought more than just shamrocks and stout this year – it delivered a cracking NRC Quiz Night at the Bowler’s Arms. Six teams, 34 participants, and a healthy dose of competitive spirit made for an evening that proved cycling legs don’t always translate into general knowledge.
Despite being a cycling club, the sports round caused more wobble than descending Streatley Hill. A top score of five out of ten raised a few eyebrows – and not a single team could name the 2025 Women’s Tour de France winner. We’ll gloss over that… for now.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along, to the Bowler’s Arms again for the hospitality, and especially to Peter Booroff, who arranged the whole thing, including setting the quiz.
Congratulations to “The Cobblers” who edged out “Odds and Sods” in a tight finish. As for the “Dream Team”… let’s just say the name carried more confidence than results.
Beyond the quiz sheets and scorecards, what really stood out was the atmosphere—easy laughter, good company, and a reminder that the Club isn’t just about Spond and Strava.
If you missed it, you missed a good one. These nights are a brilliant way to catch up, meet new members and enjoy the social side of NRC. Next time it’s in the diary, make a point of coming along – but you might want to brush up on your cycling trivia first!
