We're Bringing a Glow to Newbury

ree

On Wednesday 22nd October, Newbury will join towns and cities across the UK in a mass “Glow Ride” – part of Cycling UK’s nationwide My Ride. Our Right.’ campaign.

The campaign highlights the need for safer streets and better cycling infrastructure, particularly for women who often feel forced to choose between busy main roads or dark, isolated paths once the evenings draw in. Glow Rides shine a light on the simple belief that everyone should be able to cycle with confidence, visibility, and freedom all year round.

Three local cycling clubs – Newbury Road Club, Newbury Velo and West Berkshire Spokes – are working together to bring the event to the town. Women cyclists of all abilities are invited to take part in a two-mile ride around Newbury Town Centre and Victoria Park, helping to “light up the night” while calling for change.

Riders should meet at Glow HQ, Newbury Market Place, from 6.30pm for a briefing before setting off. Bright clothing, decorated bikes and lights are all encouraged to make the ride a real spectacle.
