Pedal Power beats Boxing Day chills

ree

A great turn-out and a brilliant day was had by all festive racers who turned out in the chilly conditions for Newbury Road Club's Boxing Day Fun TT on the H10/3 course to the west of Newbury.

The emphasis of the day was on the standard of the fancy dress costume but each rider received their time as usual. Gareth took some excellent photo's (as usual), see the link below, and Richard (our new TT secretary) awarded best fancy dress awards at the post race gluhwein and mince pie bash!

Judge for yourself from the pictures but the Monte Carlo panel on the day called it, best in fancy dress were:

1st Bjorn (Borg) Lawton, 2nd Adam Philips (Brompton wearing a suit), 3rd Peter Brooke-Wavell (on a Chopper), 4th equal Richard Cornes & Andy Tucker (escaped Elks), and Ian Chitty (Christmas jumper on a Brompton). Superman (Hadyn James) would have won a prize but had to fly off and rescue the world so left before the prize giving.

For those interested in their times; Matt Rossiter (CATI) stormed the field in 22:49, followed by the Newbury Velo tandem ridden by Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott with a time of 24:16. Third place on the sheet was Ben Goold (North Hampshire RC) with 24:37.

Matt's Dad, Tom Rossiter (CATI), put in a great performance, returning gradually to his bike after a year's illness. It was also nice to see William Emons riding again, ably supported by his wife, Claire, on crutches, recovering from an operation.

All results can be found on our website: https://www.newburyroadclub.co.uk/tt-results

The day was supported by Richard Byrne, Bob Lyle and Alan Alewood with help from Liz Pudney, Lorraine and John Murrell. Excellent photos (link below) by Gareth Davies.

See you again when the new TT season starts in March.
