Many of us have been listening to the weather and hearing just how dry April has been. Yesterday that all ended, and with perfect timing for the club's weekly time trial - if perfect is the right word. It was touch and go as to whether we would be even able to run the event. The forecast teased us with promises of improvement around 7pm, and so we went ahead. How wrong that prediction was. Nonetheless, credit to the 14 riders that turned up regardless and rode, getting a good soaking in the process.
In a reduced field we still managed to have 4 NRC riders, 1 lady, a Tandem and visiting riders from as far a field as Windsor, along with several NRC TT regulars.
Under the extreme conditions the winning time shows just how dedicated some riders can be, Scott Leeson of Onyx RT recorded 21m 56s. Many riders would have been overjoyed to get such a time on a warm mid-summer evening. First Newbury RC rider was Wei Tsung Yau in 28m 50s, while regular lady rider Beckie Hamilton, Cotswold Veldrijden, recorded 30m 15s. The new Tandem pairing of Andy Tucker and Richard Cornes, Newbury Velo had a great time of 22m 33s.
